She is a young teenager who helps out on the lemon grove, and through she is shown to be a gentle and unassuming character, she is far less naïve than expected. Innocence is most prominently portrayed through the role of Fila. ![]() Fila is a source of utmost temptation for Clyde and though she is friendly and shares a love of the grove, ultimately this is not enough to save her. Whilst Magreb can be deemed to take on the role of Adam, it is Clyde who takes on the role of Eve, in that he is not entirely happy with his life and seeks more, typically through the role of Fila. However, there is a slight gender role reversal in this story. The major comparison between the story and religion lies in its reference to the Bible and the Garden of Eden.
